I was tagged by Nikki for this little "Getting to Know You" Christmas Post (she will pay dearly):
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I love to wrap gifts. The problem is I never have exactly what I need to make the job perfect, ie; perfect ribbon, the right tag, tape where I can find it! But I also love bags if they're really cute. And they are the best in a time crunch.
2. Real tree or Artificial? We went fake a couple of years ago. Being a native Oregonian, that was a heartbreaking decision. But the fake is soooo easy and I can have it up a whole month and never tend to it once. I'm definitely a fan of the fake now.
3. When do you put up the tree? I usually don't put it up till the first week into December or so. But this year we put up decorations before Thanksgiving and the tree the day after.
4. When do you take the tree down? January 2nd. I love Christmas, but I must admit, I can't wait to reclaim my house after Christmas. The extra clutter starts to get on my nerves.
5. Do you like eggnog? Not so much. Okay, not at all.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? This really cool car that you got in and and pedaled and steered. One of those "I can't believe Santa did this!" kind of gifts. I think I was three. But something was wrong with it, and alas, it was returned to the store 2 days later, never to be seen again. I'm sure that's why it was my favorite, because I never really got to use it!
7. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, and I love it. My mom bought it for us when we were first married.

8. Hardest person to buy for? My parents. Truly a difficult task every year. I always want to buy something from the heart, and I stress over getting just the right thing. Apparently my heart is very opinionated because I can never find the right thing!
9. Easiest person to buy for? My youngest kids, 8 and 5. You just can't really go wrong there.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail. Every year. However, this year people may be getting New Year's cards. Can't seem to get that picture taken!
11.Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Miniature cereal boxes. Ok, not worst, just funniest. Our friends from Oregon sent us these as a reminder of an inside joke. Of course, we ate them.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? I'm not sure I can answer this one. Of course, I love "It's a Wonderful Life", but I never feel I can devote the 5 hours it takes to watch it (I'm just sure it's that long). I'm a movie lover and there are just so many good ones out there. We love the Santa Clause movies with Tim Allen. There's another classic out there called "Shop Around the Corner" with Jimmy Stewart that I saw once years ago. It was adorable. But I haven't been able to find it since.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Usually in November. I finished before December 1 this year. I've never ever done that before. Okay, nearly finished. I still need to get Matt something, but I haven't decided on that one yet. He'll probably go pick it out himself and tell me to give it to him.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I'm not sure if I've actually recycled a Christmas gift, but we end up recycling neighbor gifts every year. If a neighbor we weren't expecting gives us something, we usually end up grabbing something some other neighbor gave us to give them something back. I know cheesy. But neighbor gifts can get expensive! We do about 40 every year.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Hmmm....I can tell you what Matt and the kids like. They LOVE those chocolate covered cherries. Ick! They also love chocolate covered orange sticks. Double Ick! I like cheese balls and crackers. And I love chocolate truffles, however I've never actually bought them. I just seem to find them at least once a year at some party or gathering somewhere.
16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Definitely white lights.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Oh man. I have no idea. I love Silent Night because it is such a sweet lullaby. I love Mary, Did You Know? And I love O Come Emanuel. And I love Mac Wilberg's arrangement of The First Nowell (yes, that's how he spells it).
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I don't want to be anywhere but home for Christmas day. However, I want to start a new tradition of a great family trip instead of presents. We went to Disneyland last year the week before Christmas and it was awesome!! The weather was mild, no lines. It was amazing. I will never go in the summer again. I would love to do something like that every year!
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Of course I know them. Prancer and Cancer and Cupid and Stupid. Or something like that. Oh and don't forget Donder. He hangs on our Christmas tree. You think I jest? Someone actually painted the name Donder on the poor reindeer. Quality Control should have been fired over that one.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? This year is actually more like a finial.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? We have the traditional Christmas jammies every Christmas eve. But all the rest get opened in the morn. And we take turns!!! Unlike Matt's family who just goes for it. I couldn't believe the first year I spent Christmas with them. I was appalled. No one takes turns so no one can see what the other got. So weird!! Sorry Mom and Pop. It probably wasn't that bad, I just remember it that way!
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? The traffic. Period. I just hate driving in the midst of that many crazy people. Especially with the snow and ice.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? We went all red, white and silver on the tree this year. But I love tons of color combinations. I love purple and silver, turquoise and teal. I like red and green, but I prefer more of an apple green, than an dark green.
24. What do you want for Christmas this year? My basement finished. Jordan must have her own space before she or I commit bodily harm. Our combined PMS is a deadly mixture in this house lately.

I tag Kendell and Courtney and Shannon and Libby! Can I do that? Yes. It's my blog and I can do whatever I want. Kendell, I know I ignored your last tag, but 10 random things about me is never going to happen. I got stuck on two!

I really want to see a picture of your Christmas tree! I need some tree decoration inspiration. I want to see your finial tree topper.
What's up with "Nowell"? Is Mac Wilberg sending subtle anti-Christmas messages? ;)
Donder? hahaha.
If I lived around snow and ice, I'm sure I would have chosen that as my most irritating thing about this time of year... we don't have to worry so much about ice around here, though. Maybe you should make your big family trip to AZ this year... I'm just saying...
Okay, I did mine, but realized after my sister-in-law emailed me that it mentioned going to AZ so I had to take it off because we are surprising Travis's brother Josh. Will put back on when we get there!
