Wonderful Weekend

What a wonderful weekend we had. There was no school on Friday, so we all got up early and went up to Salt Lake to attend the viewing of President Hinckley. I'm so glad we went together as a family to say a final goodbye to our prophet. It was very touching and he looked very peaceful and at rest. Some people waited in line 3 hours, but luckily, ours was only about an hour. Apparently we were even on the news. Well, Devin was, at least. If you click on this link, you will see a great little news story, along with Devin.

After the viewing, we had lunch at the Lion House and then did a tour of
the Beehive House. We have been meaning to take the kids since we
moved here, but just hadn't done it yet. It was perfect, because
we were the only ones going through so we had our own private tour.
The kids were able to see their 4th great-grandfather's (Brigham
Young's) home and many of his belongings. We were also able to see
their 4th great-grandmother's (Lucy Decker Young's) bedroom and
many of her belongings, including her kitchen where she would bake
25 pies a day! Apparently I inherited none of her skills.

This morning, Matt and I went back up to the Conference Center to
attend President Hinckley's funeral. It was a beautiful service and
I feel so privileged to have been able to attend in person. While I
look forward to our next prophet, I will always miss President Hinckley,
his wit and his wisdom.

Dear President Hinckley, God be with you till we meet again...
