Is it so wrong that this is all I want to do this holiday? I just love these shows! Takes me back 30-odd years (ouch). I've thought a time or two about just buying them so we can watch them at our leisure, but that would take away the thrill of trying to catch them on TV and that awful letdown when you realize you've missed one. And just because you know they'll air it again next week, really doesn't abate the disappointment, somehow. There is something so sweet and nostalgic about these old shows. Many of them were made before man walked on the moon! I love to see the creases in the backgrounds and their jerky motions and think about the unbelievably painstaking process of creating these claymations or puppetry or whatever the heck you call this art.
Do you remember when you were little and you meticulously planned your week around what shows you wanted to watch? The week they showed Wizard of Oz, or Willy Wonka, or Mary Poppins, nothin' was gonna get in the way of those 3 hours! That was way before
these
these
or these or these (or these, for that matter).
All right, I have no idea how I got from claymation to walking up hill both ways, but sometimes I wish my kids had to suffer just a little more.
Like I said, is that so wrong?

i love watching the christmas specials on tv too!
technology definitely makes things easier doesn't it.. it makes me wonder what it will be like ten or more years from now.
I love those shows!!!!!
They really bring the christmas spirit!
Isn't that what a DVR is for? I still love those shows too. I don't have any real memories of popcorn and blankets, but seeing those shows brings such a warm, happy feeling in my heart. I think we might have to start that tradition. The shows come on too late here for them to stay up so it is nice that we can record them.
This time of year really is all about the memories. I was wrapping presents yesterday and man can I so not wrap presents very well. And as I was giving myself a hard time, I thought to myself, who really cares what they look like. Then later that day Lydia's teacher sent home a little note, that said this:
If I may pass on a few words of wisdom that my three children shared with me: They DO NOT remember the perfectly clean house, the color coordinated wrapping paper and ribbon, decorating every corner of the house, and they don't even remember many of the presents they 'just had to have'. But they do remember making sugar cookies with all the trimmings, drinking ho cocoa with only the Christmas tree lights on, and they fondly remember first looking in their stocking on Christmas morning for the orange, chocolate covered marshmallow Santa, and Crackerjacks in their stocking!
Thought it was worth passing on!
Oh they are suffering ... not the same way you did ... but suffering from the bombardment of filth and muck being spewed at them from all directions, and still holding tight to the rod! I wouldn't trade them places! In fact, I wouldn't trade places with your generation either - trying to raise kids in these troubled wicked times. They are special, strong kids coming now ... they are truly WONDERFUL ... and besides that, yours are beautiful too! What a great family. I am so proud of you!
You guys are so cute! I miss you all so much! Hey Dev! I hope that you all are getting plenty of snow up there. Heve a merry Christmas! Love you all!
Love,
Kaley =B
