Let's Play Emo!
The other day, Brody yelled up to his sister in the playroom, "Aiden, let's play Emo!" We all just froze in place. Flashes of horizontal stripes, pegged pants, black dyed hair with stringy bangs covering the eyes, low talking and bad music filled our minds. "Um, Brody?" I asked. "How do you play Emo?"
"Mom," Aiden yelled down. "I think he means Uno!".
Oooohhhh, thank goodness.

Okay, what is an Emo? Ryann says it is someone who cuts themselves. Never heard of it before. If she is right, how in the world did Brody hear about it?
No,although some emo's probably do. It is actually short for "emotional". It stems from the punk rock movement and has basically been watered down to a style. We have lots of emo kids here, even in our ward, so he hears the girls talk about it. I don't think he has any idea what an emo is, but the word is in his head. But it certainly game me pause when I heard him say it!
Yeah, that would freak me out, too. Close one.
